Reflection: Analysis Of AS Summer Work...

During the last two weeks as AS students we practised making our own remake of music videos my group decided on 'Cha Cha Slide' by DJ Caspar. The actual video is four minutes long so we only had to remake the first minute or so. I really wanted to this song as they shoot in different locations and at different angles. In my class there were two groups doing the same song, so we came together and filmed so that there were more people to dance in the video.

The footage we got was pretty good, if we had a bit more time to plan/film we would have found locations (stairs, park/green, in a room) with bigger stairs as trying to do it on the college stairs was not possible as we needed the music on loud so we could hear the steps. Also I would have done more to the editing this was my fault as I was doing the editing but I was still happy that I had used the base tracks properly and cut into bits instead of editing the video like it was a TV drama which some people did. This practice really helped me as now coming into A2 I have some understanding of what is needed from me. I definitely know that when filming we need to sing loud as the editing was partly difficult when the main character didn't sing he mimed. Also I know that even though we tried different angles, I would try some more close ups of the main character to show their significance, during our remake we had him front and centre. As well I would film some (random) scenes not really random but away from 'singing' just to break it up a bit, so the audience have something that catches their eye. Below is the link to the video enjoy!
