PLANNING: Analysis of 3 MV's that have influenced our final decision

There are plenty of music videos that have influenced our final planning decisions.
The first would be Lily Allen's 'LDN' music video:

As you can see with this music video, Lily Allen is basically walking around London with a bright red puffy dress on. The setting is very different from her other songs, we see London in a different way, one which shows the side that is just normal but 'when you look twice' everything isn't as normal as you thought it'd be, its more different and it shows London's true self. Since this music video is mainly shot in a street, we were thinking to do something familiar, our group member Lyah, posing as Eliza Doolittle, singing around London streets, with dresses on, and the surrounding very bright and girly. Also Lily Allen is shown very bright even to the nice looking side of London, and they also have a focus on her and the background looks streaked towards her, like its trying to hide the horrible side of London, as its giving her a sort of innocence that we see gets hurt in the end. Editing like swipe across the screen is used, it looks like it is wiping Lily Allen's view away to see what's underneath.

The second is Marina and the Diamonds video for her song 'OH NO'.

This video has a huge amount of colour and a light-hearted feel. Marina wears a lot of bright colours and has bright pink lipstick in the video which we want our female lead to have. The video reminds me of 1960's pop art as it has a quite comic feel to it and there is a lot of jump cuts. There is a nice dance sequence in the video in it which my group and I will try and incorporate in our video too. The costume is also very colourful and fun, which has influenced my group and i because she(Marina) wears a lot of dresses are female lead (Lyah) was also going to wear dresses. Also at the bridge of the song marina is seen lying down with money falling on her my group and i were thinking to end our video with our female lead on a bed with colourful balloons surrounding her. The video also features fast and slow motion, we were thinking of using these types of obvious edits to keep our video interesting. The video has the lyrics on the screen which in a way interact the audience with the song more and makes the video more enjoyable. When she mentions money at the beginning different money signs are shown, so that it can connect with her wider audience.

The third is Ellie Goulding video for her song 'Your Song'

This video as you can see from here is in a forest somewhere with lots of nature around her, which we want to pick up in our music video. The video shows a lot more of her with her friends which doesn't  have anything to do the lyrics as it uses disjuncture. There is a light hearted feel to this video as we feel like we are included on this trip they have gone on. In the video you see her stepping into a little stream and a mini water fall, we also wanted to incorporate water (Trafalgar Square fountain, River Lea). They have used a lot of shots of aspects of her outfit and things that are important to the video, train ticket as they are on a train and also her boots that are a bit of a dirty white. All of these close ups adds another element to the video but we definitely want to use nature.
