Defines / Mobilizes / Represents / Incites / Symbolizes / Controls / Expresses / Transforms / Constructs /Unites ... all the main functions of music, and depending on the song itself and what the producers vision is a music video is created outlining a particular representaion to put forward to the public.
there are different genres of music and this has an influence on the type of video made, rock music tends to be heavy in production shots, basement/grime is very fast paste and RnB is sometimes tells a story and is sometimes slow.
Every music video consists of various shots showing different locations but along with the location change there also costume (mise en scene) changed constantly to make the video more interesting and attracting to the viewers. An average music video's doesn't usually extend the limit of 4 minutes so that again people watching do not get bored, and the shortness of the video makes in memorable.
Direction of attention: This is a main factor when creating a music video, by making the video more attractive it draws people into the screen and enables them to continue on watching, this is either done mainly through editing, by being creative through the transitioning of clips makes it more attractive and interesting, brightening the colours, (or accordingly to the song). by making the video look fun it can draw people in to wanted to join in, this is usually in dance song such as basement, grime, or party anthems. their are film based music video's which tells a story (narrative) instead of random clips put together.
